Currently, the only treatments for osteoarthritis covered by statutory health insurance are medication (ibuprofen and similar), physiotherapy, orthopaedic aids such as insoles and orthoses, and surgery with an artificial joint and subsequent rehabilitation.

However, if you look at the S2k guideline from 2020 that is valid in Germany, the treatments we perform such as laser therapy, anti-gravity treadmill, shock wave therapy, TENS, magnetic field therapy and traction therapy are recommended as a multi-modal treatment concept with a very large consensus by German knee experts.
